Two weeks ago today was the Mar Vista Art Walk – Psychedelic September. We had a blast, hanging with fellow artists, poets, musicians, and Mar Vistians. It turns into something like Christmas when everyone is out and about, soaking good vibes off the sidewalks and the streets reverberate with the sound of community.
We had our Philosopher’s Stone Poetry booth set up in front of Vintage on Venice in Mar Vista, selling our typewriters to raise money for our non-profit, along with used books and our own publications. We read poetry and performed live music on the sidewalk. I picked up my own Smith and Corona, a baby blue little thing that could not be a better size for me.
We hit up the Art Bazaar After Party when the ArtWalk finished. A couple of us read more poetry here and played live music. All of the local Mar Vista artists were live painting all around us. There were fire dancers, more musicians and live DJs setting the vibes all night. I wish I had more photos of the entire evening, but I was having so much fun, I almost lost my purse (If that tells you anything).
As always, it was a great time. We are grateful to be included and to participate in such a thriving, artistic community. We can’t wait until the next one in December! For more information about our events, visit pspoets.org, join the mailing list, and follow us on social media.
